Famosa Chicken Rice Ball @ Jonker Street, Melaka

Had a chance to visit Melaka so decided to drop by for a good lunch. Most of the city in Malaysia have their own local special food, and for Melaka, there are plenty of choice. One of the famous food that's only available in Melaka is the Chicken Rice Ball. Funny thing that I don't see copycat for this dish in other part of Malaysia.

The famous traditional Famosa Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant in Melaka. They have 3 branches around the city, and there are 2 branches along the Jonker street while the remaining one located in Jalan Bendahara. Are they genuine traditional restaurant, that I dont know. Have to ask the local people.

The famous busy Jonker Street in Melaka, it's actually named as Jalan Hang Jebat. I don't understand why the authority want to allow cars to use this road. Just block it off and make it like Petaling Street in Kuala Lumpur, much better. Dangerous to have cars moving around in such a narrow street with lots of pedestrian.

Famosa Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant just located beside the Jonker Street and with it's red building with yellow signboard, it's hard to miss it. We went to this branch instead as it has more space and easier to find table.

Kong Sai Zai Chicken Rice Restaurant @ Puchong

We are heading into Puchong for errands and suddenly we are craving for protein source, which come best from fish or chicken. For lunch, chicken is always the best choice to fill my always hungry stomach, so my wife recommended us over to pay Kong Sai Zhai Chicken Rice a visit. Something new to me, let's go.

This is the Kong Sai Zhai Chicken Rice located in Puchong. I noticed there is another new shop beside it also painted the same colour, probably they are expanding or moving to the new shop. Look at the chair outside, it's there for the dinner session instead. Once the nightfall arrived, they will set-up tables & chairs all around the outside of the shop, road side dinner experience.

They also have two more branches over the Petaling Jaya, located in Bandar Sunway Mentari and Paramount. The latter being the main branch of the shops. Understand that quality is similar, so no problem.

Steamed Kampung Chicken for two and it looks like it's poached instead of steamed. Funny, but it's nice nonetheless. Kampung chicken texture is a little hard as expected but it's easy to eat. Very little fat and it taste not bad. If you ask me, nothing beat the steamed chicken from Ipoh, and if you compare something nearer, New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken Rice I posted earlier has better chicken than this place. However, the specialty comes from the sauce they served. Let's see.

New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken Rice @ Jalan Gasing

Since I'm from Ipoh, so it's norm for me to be curious of those restaurant that labelled themselves representating Ipoh to open food outlet in KL. Most famous Nga Choy Kei is no surprise to expand but as far as I'm aware, there is no branch in any other place than Ipoh. So whoever claimed they are from Ipoh, must be copying the name only, not anyone from the family of the famous restaurant from Ipoh.

I spotted this place in Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya named New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken Rice since 1977. Ok, that's before I'm even born, maybe I'm not aware then. Let's try out the food if it live up to its name.

This place open from morning till midnight, truly telling you that there is no specific time to enjoy the Ipoh Chicken Rice.

After ordering our food, I picked up my gear and started shooting.

A view of the kitchen just right at the front of the shop, very clean place and well organised. Everytime I come to this place for food, it's always packed. So no different this time, the staff are all very busy all night. Wondering how many chicken they serve a day. I heard Ipoh place served up to thousands bird per day during festive season.
