I didn't this place existed but according to my sister, this shop has be around for very very long time, and most of the KL boy will know it.

This Hiong Kong Restaurant is basically hidden in the basement of the Pudu Plaza, and I'm pretty sure majority of the Gen Y will never step foot inside this Pudu Plaza, that's why it remains a hidden gem. Is it any good? Well, it's not a place that you can just walk in and order your food, but you must pre-book your table and your dishes. For our case, we pre-booked months back in order to get our taste of the food in this place else they won't serve you! I've been told that the Chef here last time serve for some 5-star Restaurant and now he own this place serving a limited local area. Wow? Yea, wow. Let's find out what they've got.

If you are new to this place, I bet you wouldn't be able to find it, because it's located inside the Entertainment and F&B Zone! So look out for this entrance, left side is the CDs shop, and right side selling steamboat. Nostalgic right =)

As you walk till the end, you will see this. My first time seeing this, I shouted, WHAT'S THIS? A restaurant that need months of pre-booked and it's located beside the entertainment shop with a waist level wooden partition around the corridor of basement in a nearly abandoned shopping mall??? Sorry I kill the surprises for you guys reading it, but it's unbelievable...

This looks more like a proper restaurant, but it's not. The surrounding is weird and first time I'm seated in such place for a special lunch. However, if you pay a little attention, you will notice most of the patrons there are rich people. Designer bag, branded shirts and etc. It's not for the normal folks I think. Because it's expensive? Let's find out.
Usual setting, as we pre-booked for 10 of us and 2 babies, it's already well setup for our arrival and you will notice there is not many tables available, it's all limited.

First to come is the Crab Meat Shark Fin Soup. Ok, pardon me on this, I know Shark Fin is banned, but this lunch is long time ago, only now I got time to post it. Now my whole family basically has stopped eating shark fin. Back to topic, this bowl is not cheap though, priced at RM260, but it's well worth it if you know how expensive Shark Fin is, and it's real Shark Fin.

The soup paste is good, served hot, and if you notice, the shark fin serves in very big pieces filling almost entire bowl. That's how it's done here, shark fin pieces by pieces, and that's how its suppose to be eaten, unlike some cheaper places out there, all in loose form. It's very good, and sorry Mr. Shark.

Highlight of the day is this platter. I'm not sure what you call it, but almost every table will order this as their main. Lobster Platter? There are a total of 7 dishes cramp into this huge platter, and it is big enough to serve the 12 of us. This cost around RM210, quite fair consider the ingredients they used. Presentation wise is not as good as those premium hotel of course, but the food is real good. Is it going to make you shout? Not really, but it's good enough so you don't complain. The serving time for this dish is not so good as some is not that hot/warm anymore, probably due to preparation of the 7 dishes that took longer than usual. Be prepare to wait a little as it's a small setup.

Another view, giving you an idea on what's served.
Next up is the Fish in Chicken's Clothing, priced at RM60. This is one of the chinese dish where the chef will prepare the fish paste and bond it to the chicken to give a false look of a chicken dish. Why they do that? I don't know, but you can order this in other usual chinese restaurant, another twist to the usual dining experience. Is it good?

A cross section look, you will be able to see the crispy chicken skin, with a strip of chicken meat attached, while bottom is smoothen up with fish paste. The mixture of all 3 components are awesome. I've tried before similar dish in other chinese restaurant, and nothing come close to this, a well mixed chicken with fish paste dish! I still remember the last time I tried this in other place, we complained like hell because it tasted like a fake chicken, LOL.

Then we got this Dried Scallop Cabbage at rather steep price of RM120. Considering the amount of good quality dried scallop that's used, it might worth the price, but I'm not so sure. Personally I think it's expensive but then I don't know the price of scallop. Is it nice? It's good, but nothing special or fancy though, not really a fan of vegetables, so wrong guy to ask probably hehe.

A very special dessert, not sure what name to call it, but it's basically Cooked Yam coated with Caramel and Sesame Seeds, it's super good! Whole family love it, and we so keen to order another plate, but it's not possible in this place, as everything is pre-prepare upfront. This plate is RM20, cheap or expensive? I think it's well worth it, only can find this dish here I think.

Honeydew Sago as the final dessert that cost RM20 a bowl, very reasonably price. It's rich with sago and thick honeydew flavour that's not too sweet. Perfect to finish off the lunch, yum.

The whole dinner bill amount to RM700, quite fair for 10 of us. The place is overall good, you save on the cost from the premium environment but still similar food in this place. Will I come back? Alone don't think so, but if I have a tourist friend / family in town, I might look into this as recommendation for a unique dining experience. I'm happy to pay that price for these food, thumbs up.
The choice is obvious, an used Audi Q5 2.0TFSI Quattro S-Line. Earlier I thought a 5 years old Audi Q5 will need a minimum of RM200k to settle, but then I noticed that's actually for non-registered imported vehicle price. Local registered car can be found in the region of RM150k, so immediately I started my hunting mode. And this is what I got.

A perfect SUV for the family, Audi Q5 2.0TFSI Quattro S-Line. In comparison for the same price, you probably can get a new SUV from Japanese brand, but then being myself like to always weight in best value for money, means not to follow the majority, I think owning a RM350k SUV for more than half of its price is a no brainer. I just can't bear the idea of losing half of its value in 5 years time. I always love Audi since young, and its a brand that gives a long last impression in my head as my dad always told me, Audi is for rich people only. Really? LOL

Audi Q5 is first introduced in Y2008, and it mark as the second SUV introduce by Audi after the Q7 brother. The design of Audi Q5 is so long lasting and it is in the same form since Y2008, only to have minor facelift in Y2012. Until today, its replacement is still not launch, only rumours concept car started surfacing in the web. That's 9 years in the market, and it is still much sought after SUV in the market. A design that's 9 years old but still well receive by the market, awesome achievement. It signifies a perfect design that the designer just run out of idea to improvise?

Standard Audi Q5 comes complete in Quattro mode, and mine is the same powered by 1,984cc Inline 4-cylinder TFSI (Turbo Fuel Stratified Injection) Engine punching out 208hp @ 4,300-6,000rpm and peak torque of 350Nm @ 1,500-4,200rpm. That's impressive numbers by any mean for a SUV. Audi Q5 at this power and weight will allow you to reach 100kmh within 7.2 seconds. Top speed is capped at 222km/h, and I doubt it can go higher, personally tested. This is very impressive performance, comparable to my Fiat Coupe 20VT+ for such size of car. Signature of this EA888 engine, the power & torque comes early of the RPM, same engine used in cars like GTi.

The peak torque from 1,500rpm is very useful and turbo kick-in around same range as well making this Audi Q5 very drivable in town for quick pickup and takeover. My Audi Q5 comes with 7-speed S tronic gearbox, means its equipped with dual clutch in both fully automatic or manual shift paddle on the steering. When cuising in the highway at speed limit, I'm basically running in less than 2,000rpm, that's very good gear ratio for both power and comfort cruise. The interior is what you can expect top notch from Audi, black interior with red lightings. all fit very nicely showing the high quality of workmanship.

The engine is coupled with Audi's signature S-Tronic Dual Clutch Automatic Gearbox with manual paddle, and it's very fast with proper gear ratio setup. I hardly feel the gear change, and it's always accurate in most of the situation I needed change of gear. No jerk or whatsoever, very impressive. Handling is awesome as I tried it in Ulu Yam mountain road, expected from its Quattro technology, dynamic suspension setup and perfect 50:50 weight distribution. I dare to say this car handles better than my Fiat Coupe, only drawback is, it's too heavy so minor roll is expected at corner. For car this size and additional 400kg from my coupe, I applaud the effort.

Special section is dedicated to Quattro technology avaialble for my Audi Q5, and it's so great that I love it so much. Being an engineer myself, it's always great to appreciate such technology in my ride. The video is basically self explanatory, where the Quattro is not the normal 4WD system in other cars. Its basic configuration of 40:60 power distribution is actively manage with zero seconds lag into extreme 15:85 or 70:30 in different driving condition such as acceleration, braking, cornering and etc. It's also available to push all the power into a single axle by electronically control system when it detected slips. Not all 4WD are the same, true enough.

Stopping power comes with its larger Brembo Caliper & Disc, although not indicated, but it is Brembo brand after a good search online on it. It's remarkably bigger than my Fiat Coupe, and it brakes well in normal condition despite its only a single pot caliper design. But brake is always not enough, so I might be looking to upgrade later on. You will notice my rims are a big special, yes it is. This Audi Q5 comes with a crazy Caractere 20" Rims wrap in 255/45R20 tyres. It looks amazing and Audi Q5 can go all the way up to 22"! I checked the tyres might cost me RM2.5k each, and I will need RM10k just to change tyres when it's due. Its crazy, I might downsize it or not, see la my increments later haha...

Lastly, my Audi Q5 comes in S-Line, and is in its highest specification where only extra missing is the sunroof and MMI system. With that, I got all the bell and whistle with it, including the awesome 14 speakers 10 channels amplifier 505watts Bang & Olufsen Sound System, S-Line bodykit and and interior trimming. Being a near RM350k car, the rest are standard stuff such as Quattro technology, ABS, EBD, ESC, ASR, EDL, Cruise Control, Audi Drive Select System with Dynamic Steering and Active Suspension with Damper Control, Daytime Running Light, Xenon Light System, 8-ways Memory Electronically Adjustable Front Seats, Auto Light Control, Electronic Tailgate, Keyless Entry, Immobiliser, Ignition Lock, Rear Window Sun Blind, 4-ways Lumbar Support, 3-zone Automatic Air Conditioning System, Electromechanical Parking Brake, Launch Control, 6 Airbags, Integrated Head Restraint System, Safety Steering Column, Downhill assist, Brake Assist, and etc.

Tired just to write the features... LOL

Conclusion

One of the best choice I've made this year. We are toying with the idea of getting a new SUV for the same price from Japanese brand, but I insisted on and no regrets. The quality from Audi is just superb, and the engine, handling, and ride is just perfect for car enthusiast like me. Although it's slightly cramp compare to a CRV, but it's ok for family of five like me. The seat position in the car is so low that you might have forgotten its a SUV. Interior is very premium, and super quiet, best place to enjoy the Bang & Olufsen Sound System. Also perfect for family to chat about anything and kids to enjoy their sleep and etc.

All the upsides will always got downside with it, being an Audi, means the maintenance cost is going to be higher than others. And older car tends to have wear and tear which is unavoidable. Powerful engine = more petrol consumption. It's all part of the physics, and if you can't live with it, then get a Japanese brand instead. For those that's looking for more, it's a perfect choice seriously. I always believe in changing a car will change your life, you might argue it's not true, but I've experience lots of changes just by changing my car. Maybe it's just me, but you should try and tell me how it feels yourself when you upgrade your ride. Positive energy is so strong that the universe with path its way for you... A simple life =)
My wife's favourite, built-in blind for rear seats...KVINLIMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04547933737894475657noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3931597925319367006.post-28555573331157795722016-01-17T22:06:00.000+08:002016-01-17T22:06:26.544+08:00Plan to Upgrade Family Car into SUVWith new family member joining in, space becomes the number 1 consideration and that's why I'm looking for upgrade of my wife's faithful Civic to a bigger space car, like SUV. Lots of friends told me that Civic is big enough already, but it's amazing how many luggage you will be carrying when travelling outstation with baby in tow. Stretching my budget a bit into RM200,000 and see what I can get now.

Toyota Rush - RM86,000
Mitsubishi ASX - RM115,000
Suzuki Grand Vitara - RM121,000
Hyundai Tuscon - RM133,000
Kia Sportage - RM136,000
Mazda CX5 - RM137,000
Nissan X-Trail - RM145,000
Subaru XV - RM146,000
Honda CRV - RM146,000
Ford Kuga - RM156,000
Inokom Santa Fe - RM157,000
Chevrolet Captiva - RM161,000
Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 - RM179,000
Subaru Outback - RM179,000
Subaru Forester - RM199,800

Alternatively, these cars are in consideration as well due to the bigger space.
Nissan Grand Livina - RM87,000
Peugeot 3008 - RM154,000

Seems to be lots of choices in the market now, but I'm trying to limit my choice to European/US made only, as they have better built in terms of safety and quality ride. That automatically crossed out almost all the cars in the market, leaving only the following:

Ford Kuga
Chevrolet Captiva
Volkswagen Tiguan
Peugeot 3008

Unfortunately, European/US cars are not favor in Malaysia, therefore their resale value is very bad. That open up the question of, why not find some used / imported / recond car from europe made brand? So what we can get for a budget of RM200,000?

Ford Kuga is relatively new in the market, so there is no used unit available.
However, being Ford, they are always hungry for sales, so look out for discounts from them. Discount can range over RM10,000 from Ford most of the time for this car price.

Y2010 Audi Q5 is in the range of RM200,000. For a new car that's selling in RM300,00 region, you basically save up to RM25,000 depreciation a year, quite a bargain to consider.

Y2010 Toyota Harrier 2.4 in the range of RM160,000. Not selling new in Malaysia, but quite a good bargain as well, and it rides very well. However, drawback is this model is already very old and doesn't looks that appealing anymore. New Harrier is expensive as well.

Y2010 Peugeot 3008 surprisingly only selling at range of RM70,000. Considering a new car of RM154,000, it basically depreciated over RM21,000 per year. A real bargain if you don't mind a used unit.

Y2010 Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 is in the range of RM135,000. Note that this is 2.0 model, where market selling for over RM240,000. That make it has depreciated over RM26,250 per year. Another good bargain to look at.

Y2010 Land Rover Freelander 2 is in the range of RM140,000. New car is selling at RM270,000. That makes it depreciated at RM32,500 per year.

Lots of bargain in the European / US section, but the important question is, will it continue to depreciate at the same rate? If yes then not worth buying it. If no, then worth every cents. Getting a high quality car at much lower price. Of course there will be maintenance involved for older cars, but at a discount of over RM20,000 every year in depreciation, I would be able to overhaul the entire car at that amount already.

I'm still hunting, will update again =) Stay tuned.KVINLIMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04547933737894475657noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3931597925319367006.post-42138874811587484742016-01-17T22:01:00.002+08:002016-01-17T22:01:49.741+08:00Ahza Burger House @ Bintulu, SarawakThis round sharing a burger outlet again in Bintulu, Sarawak. It's called Ahza Burger House. Interesting about this place is that the owner makes their own patty instead of those frozen food. Hey, sounds very much like Burger Lab in Kuala Lumpur. Interesting, but is it any good? Let's see
This is the menu, all patties are home made except hot dog i suppose. Price is affordable although still more expensive than normal Ramly stall. I pick the Oozy Burger that cost RM11.00. Most expensive is always best eh, haha...
Alright, this is how it looks like, Oozy Burger that cost RM11.00. Not exactly cheap by any measure as there is no fries, no drinks. The bread is normal, vegetables are normal as well. How's the home made patty? Oh it's good, fresh with good texture and taste. My friend that tasted it said the sauce is good, but it's too much to my liking. The sauce is home made as well, I'm not sure what is in the sauce, but it tasted good with a mixture of sweet and sour taste. It's good, don't mistake me, but it's a little bit too much covering over the patty taste. Do I like it, oh yes. It's nice, especially the home made patty, much over the Ramly style and McDonald's. Is it better than special burger outlet in KL, of course not then. But it's a good options out in Bintulu, really happy to find this place when I'm around. Try it out when you are in Bintulu if you looking for an option.
Normally I will use a smart phone for a duration of 2 years to follow the Telco contract, but I couldn't wait till December this round. The battery life of HTC One M7 can only manage to hold up for 3 hours max, and I will need a replacement fast. That means I will need to buy a new smartphone at retail price, or find options available in the market.

As usual, I survey and analyse the available package, and drawn conclusion to Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus 32GB model that's just launched days ago. Sharing my decision here, might help your case to decide.

With my experience in iPhone 4 and HTC One in both iOS and Android environment, I've expose to both sides and each has own advantages of another. I don't mind to use either iOS or Android for my next smartphone, so decision relies on the package and also the smartphone model & features from both system. Tiles style from Microsoft never attracts me, so dropping it in this sharing.

For iOS, it's pretty straight forward. iPhone 6 or iPhone 6+ only, small or big screen. Coming from a small screen user, I'm dying to move into big screen wagon, and I would only consider iPhone 6+ if I were to take iOS. 16GB is too small, so 64GB is the next size up retailing at RM3,550, that's super expensive! Worth it or not very much depending on individuals, but I would compare to flagship from Android to decide.

For Android, there are multiple brands available, such as Samsung, LG, Sony, Asus, HTC, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Oppo, and etc. Lesson learned from my experience with HTC is, don't buy brand that's not proven by the popularity. There is a reason they are not popular among phone user, and this will impact badly in your overall experience. I will explain later. So either you pick the flagship from the big brand such as Samsung, or get the flagship from the China big brand like Xiaomi. My wife basically ban me from getting the Xiaomi, as she knows me to well, that I always heart for the glamorous thing, and she is right.

So looking at Samsung, the earlier flagship is only Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which I don't feel excited at all. Their Samsung Galaxy S6 model is too small, but I love the Edge design that they implemented. It looks cool and super neat but then the size is small and I hope for the big screen. Of course they cover all sides, and they have the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge available, but then it's an old model. So the timing is just right that Samsung is preparing to launch the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. Hey, both are big screen model, and it's new model.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus 32GB @ RM3,099

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 32GB @ RM2,699

I've been asking myself the question hundred times, Note5 or Edge+ as RM400 is not really a big factor for me to decide, but more to if I want practicality (stylus for production) or style (curvy screen). Obviously you know what's my choice, but my decision is made only when I'm holding the actual phones to compare. Curved screen is just the latest tech in the mobile world, and I love latest tech. Productivity is attractive features, but I will then choose to do it on laptop if need to. As I survived without productivity all these while and I'm fine.

Why not the iPhone 6 Plus someone will ask. Simple, it's the old model, and if I wait for the new model to launch by 9th September 2015, it will take easily weeks for it to reach our shores. Further, I doubt anything interesting from Apple that will be the deal breaker will be announce, so I'm not too interested to wait. It's RM200 more, less exciting, simple.

Back to the earlier question why not the not-popular brand? First of all, their product might got problem, such as HTC got battery overheating issue, and their battery life performance drop like nobody business. You won't know it until it happened, by then it's too late as you already locked in a 2 years contract with Telco. Secondly, accessories problem. Because it's not popular, you cannot find anyone selling accessories! My nice HTC One is still using the RM15 ciplak black rubber casing, just because I couldn't find any others to replace it. I've been finding the transparent rubber casing for my HTC One past 2 years, just couldn't find it.

Choosing what to buy is part of the fun, and I enjoy the process very much.

Now some photos for your enjoyment =)

There is no sign board, no names and this old couple operate from their home, I supposingly. You would just have to refer to my location coordination down there to find out where exactly is the shop, but we are talking about Bintulu, Sarawak here.

This is how the shop looks like, run down, no class, but promise you that this is the hidden gem in places like these, one of the best Fried Noodles they have in this shop.

Old and basic settings, dirty drain run along side of the house, and it's not a pretty side. There are even funny smells and occasion rats or cockroaches are not surprising sight.

First to come is the drink, and this is one funny thing about Bintulu. Every shops, I meant EVERY shops in Bintulu, serve this Three Layer Tea. They call it Teh C Special here. Normally we only can find this in Old Town, Papparich or Mamak. But it's so common here that everyone carries it in their menu. Awesome place, but nothing special that worth mentioning. Let's get to the highlight.

Ok, this is what you will want to die for. The best Fried Bihun Mee with Fried Egg in the entire Bintulu town at Sarawak. Does it looks good? Hell yeah! Look at the egg, nicely done, and once you start poking it, the yolk would just flow out and insanely delicious when mix with the fried noodles. The specialty here is the fried noodles, and you can basically try any combination. I particularly love their bihun mee combination, as it taste much nicer.

So what's the deal here? First, the "wok hei" is good, aroma fills the entire plate. Secondly, they really "fried" the noodles here. As of fried until the noodles get crispier kind of texture. That's why I love the bihun noodles, small surface, more crispy feelings. Every bites is heavenly like, and you must tell them to add Sambal together. Again, one of the specialty in Bintulu. Any fried noodles you can add sambal to give the flavour a twist and it serves well!

Here is the plate of my friend without the egg. A clearer look of the fried bihun mee, which you can clearly see some crispiness filling the entire plate. That's just awesome. I'm not sure if it's really appealing to my KL friends here, but it's definitely the best plate of fried noodles that you can find in Bintulu. If anyone ask me what to eat for dinner, this is my first choice. So stop asking me what to eat for dinner, as I only got 1 answer...

Ok, what's the damage like? I don't really know, but I paid RM8.30 for my Fried Bihun Mee Sambal with Fried Egg and a cup of Teh C Special. Not exactly cheap for a small town, but worth every cents. Do check it out if you happen to be in Bintulu and not sure what to eat, promise won't disappoint you.
It's pretty simple, and my current rig is set-up since Y2008,
This is my current rig specifications:

It is now Y2015, this machine has been running for almost 7 years now, and there are some problems.

1. Y2014 the mainboard dead, and I have to find a replacement for it. Problem is, there is no mainboard in the market then that supported the Intel Core 2 Duo socket, big problem. I hunt for so long and finally manage to find the Asrock G41C-GS that's selling for a premium price of RM229. I paid for it still, as it's' much more expensive for me to fork out cash to setup a new system.

2. Then this month, the Power Supply Unit (PSU) went down as well, but PSU is easy peasy. I managed to find the exact same unit to replace it at RM129. Other than that, it's all running well.

With 2 incidents within a year, it shows that the system is aging fast and might not able to support me for longer time, so I search out for new system to gauge the budget and price. And this is what I gathered.

Gigabyte GA-H61M-WW = RM189.00

Intel Core i5-4440 Quad Core 3.1GHz 6MB = RM614.00

Kingston HX316C10FB Fury PC1600 8GB DDR3 = RM239.00

Sapphire R7 240 2GB DDR3 128bit = RM249.00

SSD Kingston V300 120GB 450MB/450MB = RM199.00

Silverstone Essential 500W = RM169.00

Liteon DVD-RW SATA = RM59.00

Cooler Master K350 = RM149.00

AOC E2450SWD 23.6" 2ms D/W = RM469.00

Total = RM2,346.00
*note: keyboard, speakers and additioanl HDD is missing, so add what's needed.

This is a pretty decent machine to cover most basic gaming needs and definitely can last another 7 years if taken care of. However, I formatted my old rig and installed Windows 7 and it's running fine again, so don't see the point of upgrading it, so postpone my desire. Since I've done the research, so share it here for anyone that's interested to build a new rig before the GST =)

This round I got myself something that I wanted for long long time, a Multisport Training GPS Watch. There are lots of model out there, crowned by the famous Garmin Forerunner 910XT that's launched way back in 2010, that's 4 years ago! Being in digital world, 4 years is a long long time ago. The design is a bit dated and I never like to buy old gadget. I waited and waited, finally Garmin decided to launch a new product! Excited.

That's the Garmin Fenix2! For the first time, Garmin is listening to customers, that we wanted something not hideous, stylish that still pack the punch of all functionality for a truly Triathlon capable watch.

This is the Garmin Fenix2, I bought the bundle pack that comes complete with the Garmin HRM-Run Premium Monitor. Don't mistaken this HRM monitor from the older one which is non-premium type. Somehow I heard the strap and quality is much better. I got this unit directly from My GPS Talk, the official appointed distributor for Garmin in Malaysia. I missed the first batch order, ended up in 2nd batch and waited for few weeks to collect mine! For those asking me what I bought, tada!

Unboxing is always exciting, This is a performance bundle package that includes the HRM unit and I paid the full retail price for it at RM1,550! I'm not surprise that the price might be cheaper now, so scout around for the best deal. Now you know why I dream of this gadget for so long, hold up by the price tag. Probably one of the most expensive sports gear that I've ever bought! But I think it's worth it considering what it can do. Let's find out.

This is the entire sets that come in the box
1x Garmin Fenix2 GPS Watch
1x Premium Heart-Rate-Monitor
1x USB Charging / Data Cable
1x AC Adapter with 3 different plugs type
1x Fabric Wrist Strap Kit
1x Quick Start Manual

I got a bit surprise that they included a set of fabric wrist strap kit in the box, which I preferred than the rubber wrist strap that comes with the watch. That saves me a few hundred bucks if I opt to buy it myself, great.

This is the Gamin Fenix2 in rubber wrist strap, it's good gripping with good length adjustment to fit any wrist nicely. But rubber being rubber, there are risk it will hardened and snap. There are already some cases in triathlon event that people got their watch snapped off and sleeping in the deep sea. I never like this anyway.

My choice of weapon for my future endeavor in Triathlon journey. Let's look at the feature included. It's a bit long, mind you! Lots of people ask me why willing to pay over thousand bucks for this gear, you will see.

- Built-in GPS helps to track distance and pace
- Built-in GPS provides ABC (Altimeter, Barometer & Compass) in real time
- HRM-Run helps to track heart rate, provide data for cadence, ground contact time and vertical oscillation
- HRM-Run data also provide calculation to recovery time, VO2 max estimate, race predictor
- Capable of function in running, climbing, riding, hiking, paddling, skiing and swimming.
- Feature Running Dynamics features, Garmin proprietary system in providing running feedback
- Available Virtual Partner for training setup
- Available Smart Notification with Bluetooth connection with smartphone
- Navigation with map display including track logging, waypoints and POI setting
- Connectivity to Garmin Connect and BaseCamp for live tracking and reporting
- Water rated to 50m depth
- Battery life up to 50 hours in GPS mode
- Other functions include alarms, tones, vibration alerts, timer, stop watch, world clock, several time zones

These are just some of the features that I can remember and write down, within each functions, there are multiple settings that give even more features, eg. Swimming that provide stroke count and intervals including indoor pool function, that when it combines with HRM, the data are enormously useful.

Garmin Fenix2 comes with black background with white fonts, it is love it or hate it affair, but it's doing fine for me. It comes with red colour lights for night use and it's awesome. Loving it.

This is the back, rugged casing with all kind of logos embedded. notice the 4 pins at the side, that's for the USB connection to transfer data and charging. The whole casing is water proof, so no worries in water resistant problem.

This is how it looks like when connected with USB. You just slide the USB clip behind the watch and it will charge or allow sync of data to your computer.

Never like the rubber strap, so I took it out with the kits given.

And this is what you get from the bundle pack, the Fabric Wrist Strap Kit.

Final look, I've been not able to full utilize it yet, as more and more life events happening, but I've tried it for a few times and it's awesome. Everything works seamlessly, below are some screenshots from the website of the run I've done for your reference. These are some of the data that you can expect to help you in analysing your training.
Do not confuse BSC with the Bangsar Village though, BSC is the smaller mall located right at the top of the hill along Jalan Maarof. Let's see what they've got.

This is the Ben's entrance, pardon the blue hue on the wall, that's the glass colour fronting the restaurant, and it's located at the corner on level 3.

More decorative on table, busy chatting and catching up, no time to find out what's those cards for.
Let's head straight to food!

First to come is the in-house famous Ben's Nasi Istimewa, priced at RM42.00. The serving is big with beef rendang, chicken berempah, sambal prawn, kangkung, salted egg and keropok. It's not as big as you imagine from those craze in Ole Ole Bali type, but it's enough to make a full grown size male adult to loosen up his belt after the meal. As expected food quality from this price tag, it's all good.

Then we got the western style, Traditional Fish & Chips served with coleslaw and fries with homemade tartare sauce, priced at RM35.00. The fish is all good, fries are awesome with the sauce. I never like coleslaw so no comment there.

Ben's is actually quite famous for their awesome pasta, so we ordered a few of them to try out. First is my favourite style, Spaghetti Carbonara priced at RM26. It is served with beef bacon, mushroom and of course, the cream. It's really living up to its fame, where the spaghetti has really good texture, well coked and just-nice-taste sauce. The ingredients are fresh, awesome plate for me.

Then we got the Chargrilled Seafood Spaghettini priced at RM28.00. Something different but I prefer the usual pasta type of flavour, kind of weird having the chilli flavour in this serving. The spaghetti is the usual awesome, but maybe I prefer something saucy, preference maybe. Again the ingredients are fresh, all good.

Special in-house menu, the Golden Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti priced at RM28.00. A fusion of Japanese with Pasta, and the spaghetti is as usual awesome, while the soft shell crab is good as well. Something to twist the mind a bit for a pasta set, good.

Last then we try out their sandwiches range, ordered the Mexicana Tortilla priced at RM28.00, served with grilled chicken, bean stew, avocado, jalapeno and nachos. This is pretty good tortilla if you love it, healthy choice, and the ingredients mixed up quite well, especially the avocado, yummy.

Depending on individual, it might looks a bit pricy for some, but if you fancy a excellent ambience for your lunch / dinner, then strongly recommend this place. Eating is not just to fill the stomach, you can do that with mixed rice, but it's the entire package, environment, ambience, smell, music, style, serving and etc. This is what Ben's in BSC offer, and I would definitely come back for any lazy afternoon that I just want a place to stretch myself for a lazy lunch/dinner. Thumbs up, loving it.
I think lots of people don't know that Delicious do serve breakfast set, as most normally come to Delicious only during Lunch / Dinner. Yes they serve breakfast, but any good? Let's see.

Good thing I love about breakfast in Delicious is that, plenty of seats and no need to queue unlike some famous breakfast outlet. Want to eat breakfast also stress...

Got myself a cold drinks to kick the mind up, and waited for my food.
The usual salt & pepper on every table for breakfast, but their pepper is the normal type without any herbs, where I prefer the one served in other breakfast outlet, the big bazooka thing, which is really tasty.

This is what I got, so call the All Delicious Big Breakfast price at quite hefty RM24.90. That's one of the most expensive breakfast set in town, but is it good? The plate is served with 2 eggs of your choice, chicken sausage, beef bacon, grilled mushroom and tomatoes. Frankly, it's not bad, but it's not a worth the price tag! The food are so so, and not as good as some famous breakfast outlet out there. The only turn off for me is the price tag, no wonder there is no people queuing up. As you can see, it's not exactly very big breakfast serving as well.

Convenience is what I'm buying here, as there is basically not much breakfast choice in Midvalley. As of writing, lucky that the Antipodean has just opened up beside Delicious recently, problem is, as you would've expected, massive crowd. I've been there, usual, queuing up again, that's really stressful for a good morning. You do have alternative, at a premium price tag and less delicious food. Cheers.
Off we go and Klang is quite far from KL basically, is it worth the travel? Let's find out.

Bubur Goreng Restaurant, hidden within dark streets of the Taman Berkeley in Klang. It's located just nearby the Federal Highway before turning into Hokkien Association. Nothing around, so parking is aplenty.

The usual Klang restaurant with nostalgic flooring and simply table chair setup. Non air-condition so it's slighly warm on hot day.
First to come, the highlight is the Fried Porridge at RM13 per big bowl. It contains porridge, yam, tofu, pork lard, dried cuttlefish, and dried prawns. I believe there are minced pork inside but can't be sure.

It looks a little messy, but it's good, and only complain is that you must eat it when it's hot. It's not that nice when it's cold. It's not like the normal porridge but it's very strong in flavour and it goes pretty well with the green chili that's served if you fancy some spice in it. It's a bit weird in taste as none of us have ever eaten Fried Porridge, but it's nice and special to your taste bud. If you are going, it's a must try, that's what the restaurant is all about anyway, the Fried Porridge, only in Klang.

Tong Fun Crab priced at RM85 and the serving is quite huge. Pardon the shaky photos, everyone is hungry so must do it quick and never check the quality. The crab is fresh and the Tong Fun absorb the essence of the crab freshness, I think it's pretty good. It's not the best out there, but a good choice if you are here for the Fried Porridge.

This is strongly recommended by the boss, some kind of fried pregnant fish, similar to Shishamo but only bigger. It's good, and at price of RM3 per fish, it's pretty affordable. We love it, you can try as well.

Next up is the Steamed Lala that's famous in Klang Boston, but we try it out also here. It's priced at RM20, and it's not that good comparing to Klang Boston, by a far margin. It's ok by itself, but pale in comparison with the best Steamed Lala in town.

I also heard that they have this famous Steamed Mantis Prawn which is not available that day, so pre-book if you want to try that out, and I heard it's awesome. Without the Steamed Mantis Prawn, we asked for alternative and basically there is not much choice here. We took up the Steamed Stingray Fish at recommendation of the boss. It's fresh and taste ok, not bad. Nothing special though. It''s priced at RM35, reasonable.

Total damage for a group of 10 adults, RM190.00. Not exactly cheap nor expensive. Affordable and something special to add into your dinner choice if you fancy something different. The food is so so and only highlight is the Fried Porridge in my opinion. I don't mind travelling down to Klang for the porridge again though. Cheers.
I've heard lots of noise on the new instant noodle in the market, as you can guess, the Penang White Curry Noddle by My Kuali. So I've been hunting to try it out, but major supermarket always run out of stocks. I found it in one of the chinese medicine store in OUG.

I bought a pack of 4 for RM7.60, and it's basically one of the most expensive instant noodle in the market, not comparing with other imported variance though. How it taste like? It's pretty good, the noodles are ok, not soggy, the soup is creamy due to coconut milk, but it taste good. I don't like it though, with my comments following:

1. The noodles are normal, nothing special.
2. The soup base is too thick, and you really got to add more water but then it got wash out the taste. This is due to the creaminess from the coconut milk. I've not tried to exclude that, maybe someone should try and comment.
3. It's way to spicy. I'm tomyam lover but this is different. I nearly fall sick eating a pack in the first time. Subsequently I drink lots of water to clear up the heat.
4. The flavour is too strong, too much ajinomoto is the word?

It's good not doubt, but I think twice before trying on 2nd pack, in fact almost few months since I tried it, and I still don't dare to buy another pack. The reason why we eat instant noodle is to get fast meal and something to go around quick lifestyle. If I want something too strong flavour, I would've eaten outside.

This is purely personal taste bud preference, and my favorites remain with the below.

1. Thai Tom Yam Instant Noodle by PAMA
One of the best noodle and tomyam noodles in the market and remain my favourite. The springy noodle that don't get soggy, spicy and sour soup base is awesome. Only the portion is a little small, but good for a quick hit of tomyam crush.

2. Vegetarian Flavour Instant Noodle by Wei Wei A-Series
One of my favourite, very nice noodles but can get soggy if cook too long, and awesome soup base. The portion is big and it got my vote of the best normal soup base instant noodle. A little pricy is the trade off.
<img alt="Wei-Wei "A" Series Instant Noodles, Vegetarian, 3 oz (30 packs)" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51-zE%2BWE-KL._SL500_AA300_.jpg" />

3. Mi Goreng Perisa Asli by Indomie
If fancy something dry, nothing beat the Indomie, they are the king of mi goreng instant noodle and it remain the best, enough said.
My 3 year old Asics has been serving me very well, and only recently it started to show sign of old age, the shoe sole started to come off, so my wife helped to send it for stitching. It's still wearable but it feels loose and weird wrap because of the stitching.

I search for new model in Asics that suit my feet type, and I quickly catch the opportunity to get a pair when I'm visiting Singapore last month. Singapore always sell Asics cheaper than Malaysia, else you wait for special discount on older model and it might make sense.

My choice of running shoe is the Asics Gel-Nimbus 15 that's recently launched. It comes with Chinese Red / Silver / Lime Green but only Chinese Red is available in stocks for my size, so this is how it looks like.

Being one of the highest end model in Asics running shoe, technology involved is plenty and here I list out for your enjoyment. Don't worry, I don't understand any of them, but it does feel good to know for what I'm paying for.

Guidance Line - Vertical glex groove decouples the tooling along the line of progression for enhanced gait efficiency.
Heel Clutching System - Exoskeletal heel counter provides improved support and creates improved heel fitting environment.
Discrete Eyelets - Independently placed eyelets disburse lace tension, creating a customised fitting environment and enhanced upper comfort.
ComforDry Sockliner - Provides cushioning performance and anti-odor properties for a cooler, drier, healthier environment.
Impact Guidance System (I.G.S) - Asics design philosophy that employs linked componentry to enhance the foot's natural gait from heel strike to toe-off.
Guidance Trusstic System - This Trusstic System integrates Guidance Line construction for enhanced gait efficiency while providing midfoot structural integrity.
FluidRide - The latest evolution in Asics midsole technology, FluidRide provides the ultimate combination of bounce back and cushioning properties with reduced weight and exceptional durability.
FluidFit - Asics FluidFit upper technology combines multi-directional stretch mesh with stretch reinforcements that adapt to the athlete's foot, creating a truly customised glove-like fit.

This pair of running shoe is very expensive, and it retail at RM599.00 in Malaysia. Although it's the same price as my old Asics Gel-3010, but there is no discount available normally due to new model. I got it cheaper in Singapore though. It feels good, and hope it will see me through my 2nd full marathon =)
As usual, aim is to get fitter, have more energy and lead a healthier lifestyle. The upcoming Penang Bridge International Marathon 2014 will be held on 16th November 2014. That gives me a total of 7 months / 30 weeks to train.

My last experience taught me to prepare myself better this time. I studied and created a training chart for myself, stretching over 30 weeks duration to prepare myself for this run. Eventually the plan will push me into maximum of 64km in the peak week before tapering down in 3 weeks in approaching the big event.

To further prepare myself, I've registered myself also for a 21km in BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon 2014 which is to be held in 11th October 2014. Funny that SC Kuala Lumpur International Marathon 2014 is held the next day on 12th October 2014. That's totally no fun, and they will be fighting for participants, as I doubt many will actually run both events considering it's only few hours away. Here is the registration link for BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon 2014 - http://www.bsnpnm.com/

While I also already registered for the Penang Bridge International Marathon 2014, and interesting to note that this year will be the 1st year we will run on the newly open 2nd Penang Bridge! I'm not sure what to expect but it's exciting to be part of the history =) Here is the link to PBIM 2014 - http://www.penangmarathon.gov.my/portal/

Good things are I've already got most of the gears needed for a full marathon, so nothing much I will need to prepare / buy. I will definitely need a new pair of running shoes as the old Asics should be retire after 3 years. I'm also looking for a gadget to help track my heart rate and record my training. Been searching around and should update you all once I decided on what to get =)KVINLIMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04547933737894475657noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3931597925319367006.post-64715262168188457612014-04-08T08:39:00.002+08:002014-04-08T08:39:49.670+08:00Home Town Steamboat @ Sri PetalingI'm staying nearby Sri Petaling and foodies would know that steamboat is famous in the area. Recently there is this steamboat restaurant that has been opening up aggressively around Klang Valley, so we decided to check it out.

Home Town Steamboat Restaurant, as of I'm writing now, they already have 8 outlets around the Klang Valley. That's very fast, considering they only open up their first Setapak branch in Year 2006. It looks a little empty because we went very early on weekdays, but assure you that it's packed on weekends, so you are reminded to make online booking to avoid waiting time.

As we leave, the shop is pretty empty, but they do have lots of tables and chairs, ensure that you will seated no matter the crowds.
More smaller table along the corridor, suitable even for small family or couple to enjoy a good steamboat. Beautiful part is, the inner side is air-conditioned. It's open door concept, but still the breeze air will help. Parents with babies will definitely appreciate this.

For those that's hungry, they also have a counter for BBQ chicken wings, so depends on what you fancy. Somehow BBQ chicken wings is a trend for steamboat restaurant in Sri Petaling, weird combination right?
We have around 10 people this round, so we ordered set for 7 people, and this plate show up on our table. Set for a person is RM16.50 with free Signature Clear Soup. I will come to that later. Best part that I love about this place is, they do allow you to order 1 set only, as most steamboat restaurant out there need minimum 2 sets to serve you. Perfect for couple that has a small eater girlfriend / wife. I will come to this place for this reason alone.
Raw Sliced Mutton for RM27, and it's good. Must go with the sauce, and don't dip into the steamboat for too long else the meat get too hard.
Bamboo Tube Fish Paste priced at RM9.90. It looks pretty plain comparing to the menu, and ended up we cut it into pieces ourself and throw into the steamboat pot. Again this is self made, not some cold storage fish paste, so it's good.
Ok, now back to the soup for the steamboat, they basically have 4 types. The Signature Clear Soup, award winning Signature Tom Yam Soup, Hong Kong Style Porridge in Claypot and Pumpkin Style Porridge in Claypot, where the latter two will cost you an additional RM4 for half and RM8 for full pot. Clear Soup and Tom Yam Soup can add unlimited, but the Porridge will cost you more if you decided to top up at the price mentioned.

Obviously we taken half Signature Clear Soup and half Hong Kong Style Porridge for this round, and my advice? Avoid porridge at all cost. It's not that bad, but with this family size, we tend to eat a little longer and the porridge started to burn. The taste is so bad and can even smell from where we seated. Ended up half way of dinner, we have to abandon the porridge totally. There is also no way to shut off fire for half the pot, so no choice. Need better thoughts on this if you ask me.

Overall the food is good, the ingredients are fresh with lots of variety and importantly, the place is clean, air-conditioned and family friendly. If you are looking for steamboat, rest assure this place got all you got. It's one of the modernised steamboat outlet and I love it for being clean and babies friendly. They also have lots staff to help around, so thumbs up for that.
For those food lovers, they would know that there are lots of awesome seafood restaurant along the route from Ipoh to Penang as it's close to lots of fishing village, and today I will introduce you one of the shop that I think it is awesome.

I bring you to the ulu kampung place named Loam Mit Thai Seafood Restaurant.
The Loam Mit Thai Seafood Restaurant located in no where =P

Hey, this is not exactly what you expect? This is exactly what you should look for if you want to find some real fresh seafood in fishing village, that's how most of them looks like. If it's pretty, then it's probably commercialized to rip tourist off. These are what we can neighborhood restaurant, where if they charge expensive, they probably will close shop as they rely on locals to support them as well.

Seafood restaurant, sure got some fancy aquarium with fresh seafoods lively swimming around? This is how it looks like, not exactly what you expect also? Again, please forget about what you seeing in big city seafood restaurant, those are just fancy thing to keep us city people feel good. But the emptiness of the aquarium worries me a little also haha ...

Check out the food, that's the real thing to look out for below.

First to come is the Soy Sauce Steam Fresh Prawns. I'm going to keep the price till last to reveal, for now just enjoy the photos of the food. As what you can expect, the prawns are directly from the fishermen nearby, and it's fresh with good texture and taste. My advice for you guys out there, if you are eating fresh prawns, COOK IT WITH STEAM ONLY, don't spoil it with any other sauce or etc. Else you are missing the point!

Next to come is the awesome Steam Soy Sauce Soon Hock aka Marble Goby Fish. For those that know Soon Hock, you would know the price is crazy expensive in Malaysia, but it's one of the best due to the meat texture. And coming fresh from sea, this is awesome plate. For this fish, again don't spoil it with other type of cooking, just plan steam with soy sauce is awesome already.

One fish is not enough, so we got another fish. Steam Spicy Sour Pak Su Kong aka Catfish. Pak Su Kong is our favourite also, more affordable price, and good fish meat as well. The sauce is a bit too sour, but that goes very well with the rice!

Some seafood fried rice to go with the seafood, and it's ok.
Being in a Thai Seafood Restaurant, must also order a bowl of Tom Yam, else it's a bit weird. Best thing is, the family is really from Thailand, so it's hot and spicy kaw! Not for the faint hearted this thing, but I love it! Forget about the ingredients, the seafood earlier is must tastier!

Finally some greens to go with the meal, nothing fancy.
This is the aftermath of the lunch, and we walloped every single piece of meat sighted. Notice even the bones are missing?? It's that good, and you will also notice the style of cooking is all steam, with normal soy sauce except the Tom Yam and the Spicy Sour Pak Su Kong (Catfish).

The food is awesome, double thumbs up, freshness guarantee but it's located no where. Why you would even bother? The best part is saved for the last, which is the price. Here is a summary for your eye popping moment.

Steam Soon Hock (Marble Goby Fish) - RM95.00
Steam Soy Sauce Fresh Prawns - RM48.00
Steam Spicy Sour Pak Su Kong (Catfish) - RM40.00
Vegetables - RM7.00
Seafood Tom Yam Soup - RM9.00
Fried Bee Hoon - RM6.00
Fried Rice - RM5.00
Total damage? RM210.00 to feed 6 person.

I don't know about you, but that price is pretty awesome for the meal. Note that the serving of the prawns and fish are big enough to fill 6 adults, and we all walk away satisfied! Maybe it's not dirt cheap to worth the effort to purposely drive over for the lunch, but if you happen to pass by the area, must drop by! I bet you can't even afford the Soon Hock with the same price in KL, haha.

You got the point, just go and try it out. There are still lots of seafood village restaurant around, I will try to share as much as possible in future. For now if you rely on me only, try this out first. I will try to feed you more =)

The famous Ampang Yong Tau Foo is always too far for most of us, so here I introduce a closer place to satisfy your need.

Khong Kee Yong Tau Foo located at Taman Paramount, and by just looking at the signboard also you know that they have been here for very very long time! Long surviving old shop is always promising, because even with such décor also can survive, sure the food is good la!

Here is a shot of the shop, and surprisingly clean. Usual Malaysia Chinese style of table and red plastic chair. The place is well ventilated, but can be slightly hot during lunch time though. Because they actually cook in open area the back of the shop.

They are famous for their Yong Tau Foo and indeed it is quite good. I wouldn't say it's comparable with Ampang Yong Tau Foo, but it's good enough for me to make a come back. The soup based is a bit tasteless, good for healthier choice, bad for some others. Yong Tau Foo itself is fresh and tasty.

And the fried Yong Tau Foo is also good, fresh ingredients as well and tasty. Freshness is the key here.

Highlight of Khong Kee is the porridge that they serve. Seldom you will find Yong Tau Foo shop sell porridge and lots of people mistaken this place is a Dim Sum restaurant, because people seeing them eating porridge. But this is actually the real highlight of Khong Kee. It's called the Hong Kong Style Porridge with lots of ingredients like Chinese Peanuts, Dried Oyster, Dried Jellyfish, Mushroom topped with spring onion and some white pepper. The porridge is thick, creamy, soft and smooth. It's delicious, a must try if you love porridge. One of a kind when you eat the porridge with the Yong Tau Foo.

Or if you hated porridge then can order the cheapo fried mee hoon mee that's so common to Malaysian. It's the same everywhere, so you should know the expectations. They also have Chee Cheung Fun, if you fancy some.

I didn't pay for this, breakfast-ing with my family, but it's affordable, don't worry. I think the fried mee hoon mee is around RM2.50 while the porridge served with century egg is around RM5.00. Yong Tau Foo if not mistaken should be in RM1 per piece range. Not sure they adjusted the price now, because I heard they keep increasing the price last time =P Not something super fancy, but if you are craving for Yong Tau Fu in the area, do drop by.
This is the open bar concept with cashier right behind the bar. Clean and sleek design, all well for a relaxing café.
Here is how it looks like on the inside of the café, they do have a few tables outside that's not air-conditioned to cater for smokers (not much of those love fresh air as it will be polluted with 2nd hand smokes. Clean wooden table, simple lightings, transparent comfortable plastic chair, just how you should start a day with healthy breakfast.
They serves all day breakfast, and this is the order chit for your choices. Note that you can choose 3 items, 5 items of 7 items at RM8.90, RM11.90 and RM13.90 respectively. So just tick what you fancy, and you can have 2 servings of the same as well if you want, no restrictions. It's a real bargain for the 7 items platter where it's only RM13.90! Where else you want to get a 7 items breakfast for that price? It's real cheap and that's why the place is always crowded, I warned you.

If you fancy some ala carte, here is the menu, quite a wide range of food choices for a café if you ask me, and the price is reasonable as well. You will have to go and place the order at the cashier and pay on the spot then they will deliver the foods to your table.
As we are waiting for foods, can't help to look at the range of photos on the walls, it's all proper printed photos quality, not those normal printer paper thingy, and wondering if it's from the customers or the owner for decoration purposes, but it does looks nice and brighten the whole place up.
At the entrance, there is the travel library, where they have a wide range of travelling guide books with translation books in place for your to explore your next destination while you waiting for 'boarding'. It's quite a good idea for those that's looking to explore next destination at a comfort of café, rather than browsing it at the magazine corner. Eating breakfast, sipping coffee while discussing next travel destination, sounds good.
Here is my super 7 items breakfast platter that cost only RM13.90. I choose scramble eggs, button mushrooms, bacon, ham, sausages, hash brown, and toast. The quality is OK, not awesome, not bad. I'm a satisfied customer for that price range they charging. Would recommend to anyone to try it out.

Here is what my sister ordered, similar, but fish finger instead and something else is missing. She ate it already before I manage to snap the photos! This plate go for RM11.90, just add RM2 more for the big breakfast!!

Now this is more like it, another RM13.90 platter for my sister, with additional greens.
While for the rest of us, we decided to try something from the ala-carte menu just to check them out. My in-law ordered the Scramble Eggs with Greens cost RM8.90. It's the same as the breakfast set, and I think the breakfast set is cheaper, so don't bother.

What I got for myself is the Pancake Tower priced at RM7.90. It's cheap but not good. The honey is not nice, pancake is not nice, banana slices served with skin (can eat??). The ala-carte food seems bad, but the breakfast is good and cheap. I ordered the long black and it's normal only, nothing to shout about.

There you go, Departure Lounge in Damansara Uptown for a breakfast or brunch. I won't be back myself, because I stay quite far away. But if I'm in the neighborhood someday, definitely will go again for another affordable breakfast.
This is my blog, so I will just point out my view over the new NAP 2014.

1. CBU Hybrid and EV incentives is terminated.
Means all CBU hybrid that's enjoying all the cheapo price is going to say good bye. This is a very bad news for Hybrid car owner, as they all think the party will go on forever, but it just given me another reason to advice people against buying a hybrid in Malaysia. Why? With a drop of hybrid cars on the road, the after sales is going down with it. No car sales, no profits, no investment for after sales service, problematic maintenance. The investment by car dealer is always with the money flow. So good luck with that, you only hope more will invest for CKD hybrid, but why would they do hybrid when they can have EEV model?

2. CKD EEV fully open market.
This is good news, for good technology car, example like Mazda Skyactiv technology. Unknown yet if Volkswagen / BMW / Honda / Toyota qualified, time will tell. Big impact would be the smallest CC car that meet the EEV will also be available, so that's good to encourage investor to put money in for EEV assembly plant in Malaysia, but how much impact will yet to be see.

3. No news on Open AP.
After much delay, nothing at all for open AP issue. All car manufacturers already stressing that they are putting millions into the country to invest for manufacturing plant, but they are killed off by the grey import, which only let the cronies earn money. This actually put off lots of investor, scaring them off from investing. Pretty stupid. And another committee suppose to do another "in-depth" study, your guess is as good as mine -_-

4. No news on Euro 4.
Enough said, we are still stucked with lowest grade of fuel, and limited us to the diesel model available. I think biggest problem is we have too many commercial "black smoking" truck / bus on road, which this will basically kill them off. One of the pain to take on if want to move the country forward, again the cronies controlling those company pressure the government I suppose.

5. No news on Car Price Reduction.
MITI said they have a framework ready for 5 years reduction plan, but nothing announced. Might as well say you don't have the framework?? And being in Malaysia, they can get away with it, nice! The presentation even explained that car price reduced last few years, sounded very much like what we saw on "newspaper" earlier, what's the point?

6. No news on Reduction of Excise Duty & Tax.
And what pissed me off is, government is in 4% deficit and need the tax now. So if government continues to be in red, we will never see sunlight?? That's really pretty stupid. They screw it up, and we citizens have to pay for it. Our Prime Minister promised to reduce car price by 30% is still hanging until now.

Others that's not mentioned which I think should be included.

7. Adjust the road tax in accordance to car price / power / emission. People are buying expensive cars but paying little road tax, why don't have a more fair system to tax the higher earner more?

8. Impose additional safety equipment as basic to car offer, like traction control and etc. I'm sure most people don't mind to pay same price for additional safety features. Why is Toyota still allow to get away with little safety features on the mainstream model that top the sales chart? Protect the citizens!

9. No news on older cars, good news for me, so I can continue to enjoy my Fiat Coupe =)KVINLIMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04547933737894475657noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3931597925319367006.post-35970270735927562902014-01-13T10:03:00.002+08:002014-01-13T10:03:24.048+08:00Habits of the Rich PeopleNew year, new resolution. As usual habits, I started to read more to find out how to live my life better and found an interesting article about differences between habits of the rich and the poor.

1. Rich people eat less junk food
2. Rich people focus on single goal
3. Rich people exercise more often
4. Rich people listen to audio books when commuting
5. Rich people maintain a to-do list
6. Rich people make their children read fiction books monthly
7. Rich people make their children volunteer
8. Rich people make birthday calls
9. Rich people write down their goals
10. Rich people read 30 minutes or more each day for education
11. Rich people don't say what's on their mind
12. Rich people network more often
13. Rich people watch less TV
14. Rich people don't watch reality TV show
15. Rich people wake up 3 hours before work
16. Rich people teach good daily success habit to their children
17. Rich people believe good habits create opportunity luck
18. Rich people believe bad habits create detrimental luck
19. Rich people believe in lifelong educational self improvements
20. Rich people love to read

Myself has been practicing some of the habits above, but one thing that caught my attention is the no. 11, where Rich People Don't Say What's On Their Mind. I'm guilty on this that I've been quite honest and open with what ever in my mind. Then after reading this I realize that it's actually not very good for myself. As I pay more attention to the people surrounding, I also notice that nearly no one share what their thoughts and they wanted to always know what you are thinking or doing.

Selfishness? I don't know, but I think I also have to be more careful with my thoughts, anyway it's a recognize habit for being rich, so I better starting acting like it also. I love sharing, so don't worry, contents will remain for 1simpleplan, but would hold up on my personal life matters.

Let's see, I still have 9 more habits to go, hope I can eliminate all my bad habits before end of 2014 =)KVINLIMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04547933737894475657noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3931597925319367006.post-46885333054487940712013-12-27T09:33:00.000+08:002013-12-27T09:33:28.267+08:00My New HTC One Arrived! My earlier post mentioned that DiGi do have a special year end promotion, and I've taken it up replacing my iPhone 4 with the brand new HTC One. HTC One that's launched in 1Q of 2013 has been running out of stock in every DiGi outlets that I came across, and even the online website indicated same. Don't want to miss out the promotion, I check on the website everyday, and finally I managed to order it over online website. Hassle free, choose the plan I want, choose the phone I want, then click proceed. Payment by credit card, verification done, voila, that's it.

Problem with online shopping is that, you paid already, but where is the phone?? No indication over when it will deliver to me, so I call DiGi up, and they said within next working days, but because I ordered after 2pm, so another working day. I ordered on Thursday, meaning need to wait till Monday, argg!! =(
I waited patiently, and finally on Monday, the box arrived!
This is how the DiGi online shopping box delivery looks like. It's very small and light, kind of hard to believe I paid nearly RM2,000 for it.
Once open up, there is only this HTC One box inside, and it's very small, but still bigger than iPhone box, LOL.
Unboxing a new gadget is always very exciting, so I try to enjoy every moment of it. Slowly tear the stickers away, and unpack everything. Here is what you get for a HTC One package. The phone itself, a new micro sim card from DiGi, charger plug, micro USB cable, Bear headphone, and a few pages manual.
This HTC One is consider as my 3rd smartphone, where my first smartphone is the Dopod 810, and secondly the iPhone 4. I always love big screen, and when I'm using PDA last time, I'm a sucker for the Sony Clie PEG-NX70V which is very huge in comparison with other PDA that time.
HTC One is truly beautiful, aluminium body and the 4.7" display from Corning Gorilla Glass 2 spotting a full HD display of 468ppi count. There is only 3 hard buttons around the body, which is the power, and up/down volume. The home button and back button is touch sensitive, which either you love it or hate it. It's working fine I assure you.

Show casing the beautiful aluminium curved body at the back, with good camera and flash. There is also a small hole right at the top of the phone, which is called Sense Voice in HTC. It is function to the ambient environment noise and adjust the volume automatically while helping with some noise cancellation, sounds good.
One of the highlight in the HTC One is the Beats Audio that promise studio sound quality. I tested it with their bundled headphone and the sound is damn awesome! Of course the sound track is bundled in the phone probably optimized to give the wow experience to new user, but limitation is only if you can get the good quality audio and this phone will deliver it right, that's all you need to know.

The specifications are awesome, Quadcore 1.7GHz Krait 300, HPU Adreno 320, Android 4.2.2 (upgraded to 4.3 last 2 days ago), full HD display, 32GB RAM memory, LTE supported, build in FM radio, and to go with all that, the battery size is 2300mAh. That's very big, necessary to support the big screen, but bad news is that it also takes a long long time to charge. Charging over USB connection is not longer viable, so power plug is necessary.

The experience is totally different comparing to iPhone 4, but the technology is 3 years apart, so can't blame the iPhone 4. However, the deepest impression that makes me don't miss the iPhone is the screen size. Now I truly appreciate the larger size screen and understand why Samsung has been pushing it. If you are iPhone user, you won't notice the different and you will shout what's the big deal and say iPhone size is the best to hold and use. I dare you to try to use a full HD 4.7" display smartphone for few days, and go back to your iPhone, you will feel that the iPhone is like a toy phone. The screen is damn small, and the icons are toy alike. It's that bad, so I advice you guys to move over.

Comparing the size side to side with my iPhone 4, not much different eh, it's the size of the display, iPhone got lots of dead space on top and bottom of the phone.

I adjusted both phone brightness to max and this is what I get. iPhone definitely has a brighter screen but the colour contrast lose out, and the screen size is a big turn off. I praised the retina display when I bought my iPhone so much but now other manufacturers have already overtake in the tech race while iPhone still stucked at their 326ppi when HTC One is spotting 468ppi. You won't notice much different actually, but watching a full HD on the HTC One 4.7" display is definitely syiok, you just have to try it.

On my next post, I will share the migration process from iPhone to Android, and also how to use the HTC One. Lots of impressive features in the HTC One, and until now I'm still exploring. Cheers.
