Pan Mee @ OUG

I'm promoting another hawker stall in the OUG area, the very classical Pan Mee. My elder sister brought me over when I just started to work and they used to operate beside the road within the OUG shoplot premise. I suppose there are lots of complain and eventually the government built a food court named Medan Selera Mega around the corner further back and charge them rental instead. All hawker stalls there are forced to move over, some didn't make it but no problem for this Pan Mee stall.

Been supporting them for nearly 10 years, it's still my favourite dining place. I always love to support our local stalls, they just serve the best food despite the mushrooming of the bigger chain outlet. An experience that make us Malaysian.

The Pan Mee stall typical look at the new location. I throw in a nostalgia touch for this post, thought it suit the scene. Serving secondary aim to please my readers that commented on my overly vivid photos earlier =)

Hey, look at this piece of marvellous machine! It's still working, nice.

Ishin Japanese Restaurant @ Old Klang Road

It's been very long since we've eaten Japanese food, mainly because of our busy schedule. This day I suggested to try out the newly open Ishin Japanese Restaurant at Old Klang Road. It has been getting over thousand fans over the facebook in a few months, so off we go again. Hunting for some better japanese restaurant.

If you are heading towards OUG from Midvalley direction, it's just located on your left opposite the 3rd Mile Square. It's located in a bungalow just beside the main road. Once you reached there, there are surprising lots of staff to guide you where to park. I think they have more staff at the parking than the restaurant. I will share more of my experience below. Here is a shot of the restaurant from the Old Klang Road.

Parking is plenty and they do double parking around the restaurant as well. No jockey parking though, but they will request for you to remove your car if other diners are leaving. I think it's a disturbance in the middle of the dinner to remove your car, but it might well worth it if the food is good. Let's see.

Ah Wang Steamed Fish Head @ Old Klang Road

This time promoting the all time favourite steamed fish head for me and my wife at Old Klang Road. Ah Wang Bak Kut Teh & Steamed Fish Head is located just along the Old Klang Road beside the New Pantai Expressway Flyover. Although the shop signboard indicate both Bak Kut Teh & Steamed Fish, you can forget about ordering the Bak Kut Teh. It's not good at all, unless you suddenly fancy some Bak Kut Teh in the middle of the night, or else stay away.

I normally do late dinner here and there is no single time that I come without at least 80% of the tables occupied, imagine that. Yes, it's that famous. Yes, the food is good. They shop only open after 6pm and I heard my friend said it close at 4am. Not sure how true, never bother to verify =P I love this place because it's near my house. When we are hungry, we just drive off, take a seat and order our regular without thinking. The food is served in less than 10 minutes, finished it within 15 minutes, and off we go. A quick, healthy and relatively cheap dinner.

The photo is taken when we have finished our dinner, and just look at the crowd. It's almost 10pm.

As you can see from the photos, this place is actually street side set-up so don't expect good hygiene. It's clean enough for a pleasant dinner though, and of course, it's not air conditioned. The only thing that we love is the Garlic Steamed Fish Head, other than other recipe of Asam Style and Chinese Bean Sauce Style.

Highlight of the day, and I think we eat this once every month (I only spent 5~6 days a month in KL only). No matter what style of recipe you are ordering, the smallest serving is RM21 as the photo. It's enough for 2 person, but don't order any other thing, unless you are really hungry. Opt for different recipe if you have more people, it's not bad, just that I prefer the garlic style.

The fish is very fresh without muddy taste. The fish flesh is smooth without much bones, and if you fancy fish belly, this place promise you the most saliva dripping experience, ok, a little exaggerated, but it's that good. Important advice, eat when it's still hot. Once it turns cold, it's not that nice anymore, personal preference maybe. Must try.

Woo Pin Fish Head Noodles @ Taman Danau Desa

There is a shop in the Taman Danau Desa that's very famous with the fish head noodles. I've been hearing of it for very long time, but never have the chance to try. My parents came down to KL for a visit, so my sister took the chance to bring us to try it out.

Don't be fooled by the photo below, The shop name is Woo Pin Fish Head Noodles, not Ho A One Seafood Steamboat. They have taken over the shop for very long time since 2009 but still havent remove the old sign yet. Look clearly, they open from 7.30am till 10.00pm! Impressive, now you know where you can look for some fish head noodles if suddenly you feel hungry at 7.30am or 10.00pm ...

A shot of the front shop, can see even the tables outside are packed!

Cao Cao Roast Lamb Chop & Best Claypot Yee Mee @ Old Klang Road

ng RI went back to KL for the weekend and we just wanted to have something fast and simple. Immediately I thought of this place near Old Klang Road. It's some road side hawkers and it's truely some gems hidden. Normally I don't carry my D90 around places like these, so this is where the Canon S90 shines =) I asked my wife to grab it along, throw it into her bag and off we go.

We reached the place and I quickly try out the low light capability of the S90 from my seat. Impressive brightness at f/2.0 with little noise notice around ISO 800. Ok, this is the place, Cao Cao Roast Lamb Chop. Take note of the aunty standing beside the bbq pit, that's where the magic takes place, or inferior quality control!

A serving of the famous Cao Cao Roast Lamb Chop served with mint sauce. To me, the most important of having lamb chop is the mint sauce, I will never eat lamb at any place that don't serve the mint sauce. Simple, from my experience, if they don't serve the mint sauce, meaning that they don't know how to serve the lamb.
